Body Vitals: Health Widgets
2.6 | iOS 26.0+
GETTING STARTED
Open the app and grant HealthKit permissions when prompted. Body Vitals reads Apple Health data and does not require account creation. If other apps write into HealthKit, those signals can appear in Body Vitals automatically.
Body Vitals supports iPhone on iOS 26.0 or later. It is not offered as an iPad app on the App Store. Apple Watch is recommended for richer signals (HRV, sleep stages, SpO2), but any source that writes to Apple Health can contribute data.
Yes. Body Vitals includes Apple Watch complications and a dedicated watch app (Pro). Complications can show readiness or other metrics at a glance (including Live Heart Rate as a selectable complication metric), and the watch app lets you customize which metrics appear on your watch dashboard (including an optional live heart rate tile while the watch app is open).
Long-press your home screen, tap the "+" button, search for "Body Vitals", and add widgets. Free includes small/medium home screen widgets and lock screen widgets. Pro unlocks large widgets and the StandBy Readiness Dial.
Body Vitals only shows data that exists in Apple Health. If a metric shows "--", it means that data type has not been recorded yet. Common fixes: ensure HealthKit permissions are granted for all categories, wear your Apple Watch overnight for sleep/HRV, and make sure third-party apps are writing to Apple Health.
READINESS & SCORES
A 0-100 score computed from HRV, sleep duration, resting heart rate, SpO2, and training load. It uses adaptive calibration - the algorithm learns your personal baselines over 90 days. Higher means your body is more recovered and ready for intense activity.
Pro includes six composite scores: Longevity, Cardiovascular, Metabolic, Circadian, Mobility, and Allostatic Load. They are surfaced in the Health Command Center large widget and companion app views. Allostatic Load (0-100, higher = more physiological burden) measures cumulative multi-system stress from HRV, sleep debt, training form, blood pressure, blood glucose, and wrist temperature. Each score has a detail view with research citations.
Pro feature in the Activity tab. It automatically identifies Zone 2 workouts from the raw heart rate data recorded during workouts in Apple Health - no manual zone entry needed. It uses the scientific definition (65-75% of estimated true max HR per San Millan and Brooks 2018) and cross-references your VO2 Max for accuracy. Works with any app or device writing heart rate data to HealthKit.
Pro feature visible inside the Training Load detail view. It compares your 7-day rolling training load to your 28-day rolling load. A ratio above 1.5 indicates High Risk (associated with 2-4x higher injury risk in research by Gabbett 2016, BJSM). The optimal range is 0.8-1.3. It helps you identify when training is ramping too fast relative to your adaptation capacity.
Pro feature accessed via the Longevity composite score. It calculates a weekly 0-100 score across five longevity pillars: Zone 2 cardio (150+ min/week), strength training (2-3x/week), sleep quality, stress and HRV management, and metabolic health. Each pillar shows your actual data and a progress bar so you can see where to focus. Resets weekly.
Pro feature that reads menstrual flow data from Apple Health and identifies your current cycle phase (Menstrual, Follicular, Ovulatory, Luteal) based on your own history - not a generic 28-day estimate. The main place to find it is the dedicated Cycle Phase card in the Recovery tab, and a secondary badge appears inside HRV detail when cycle context explains a lower HRV reading as expected variation rather than an anomaly. If Apple Health has menstrual flow data but there are not enough recent entries to estimate the current phase confidently, Body Vitals still shows the feature with a fallback state instead of hiding it. This feature only activates when cycle data exists in HealthKit; it never relies on your reported biological sex.
Pro feature in the Health tab. It is a conversational AI coach running entirely on your iPhone using Apple Foundation Models (iOS 26) - no data is sent to any cloud service. You can ask plain-language questions ("should I train today?", "why is my HRV low?") and get answers grounded in your current Apple Health data. Chat history is stored locally on your device and can be cleared at any time.
Five horizontal bars (HRV, Sleep, RHR, SpO2, Load) showing your readiness sub-scores. Each bar is color-coded (green, amber, red). Pro shows composite health scores on the dashboard without blur; free users see blurred previews with Upgrade to Pro where those sections appear.
Interactive behavior varies by widget type. Examples include telemetry toggles, Sleep Architecture stage/trend toggles, StandBy Readiness Dial insight/workout switching (Pro), and Weekly Pattern large widget cell selection (Pro). The in-app Weekly Pattern heatmap on the dashboard is included in Free.
Pro feature. Body Vitals has two AI coaching modes. AI Daily Coaching generates structured daily insights (Readiness, Sleep, Activity, Body & Heart) shown as cards on the Health tab and as chips on the Health Command Center widget - refreshable on demand. Neural - AI Health Coach is a conversational interface where you can ask open-ended questions and get answers grounded in your live HealthKit data. Both use Apple Foundation Models running on-device. No health data is sent to any third-party AI service.
No. Body Vitals does not send your health data to any third-party AI service. AI Coaching uses Apple Intelligence (Apple Foundation Models), Apple's native framework. Depending on device settings and the request, Apple Intelligence may use Private Cloud Compute, which is governed by Apple's privacy and security policies.

DATA & PRIVACY
Body Vitals does not require an account and keeps core health processing on your device. Health data comes from Apple Health; what the app stores for widgets stays on your iPhone. Read our full Privacy Policy.
Delete the app to remove Body Vitals local app storage. Health data remains managed in Apple Health. Body Vitals reads HealthKit data and may write workout/activity data as described in app permission strings.
TROUBLESHOOTING
iOS controls widget refresh frequency. You can force a refresh from Settings inside the app. Also ensure the app has background refresh enabled in iOS Settings > General > Background App Refresh.
The readiness engine needs HRV and sleep data as minimum inputs. If you don't have an Apple Watch or a device that provides these, some signals will score 0. The engine also needs 7-14 days of data to establish your personal baseline for accurate calibration.
AI Coaching needs a compatible iPhone and iOS 26 or later. If your device does not support it, that part of Pro will not be available.
