Best aura score & first impression apps for iPhone

There are really three kinds of app hiding under the phrase aura score: face-rating apps (Umax, LooksMax AI) that score facial geometry from a selfie, AI vibe tools (FirstVibe) that describe the impression a photo gives, and human-rated tests (Photofeeler) where strangers vote. Three different questions

The phrase "aura score" is doing a lot of work in the App Store right now, and the apps ranking for it are answering three different questions.

"How attractive is my face?" — Umax, LooksMax AI and the dozens of lookalike apps score facial geometry. They are honest about what they are: face-rating tools for people on a looksmaxxing project. The number is mostly bone structure, so it barely moves, and most of the product is the roadmap of suggested changes.

"What impression does this photo give?" — FirstVibe and Photofeeler answer this, one with a cloud AI model and one with actual humans. Both are about a photo, not about you: a different photo of the same person can score very differently, which is the point when you are choosing a profile picture and a limitation when you are trying to change how you come across in a room.

"How do I actually show up — and is it improving?" — this is Presence's question. Presence

Presence rates 19 dimensions — including Fit Check, grooming, skin, facial age, smile, posture, first impression, eye contact, voice, social proof and personal brand — and rolls them into one Presence Score with published weights: Appearance 30%, Aura 25%, Face 20%, Brand 15%, Physicality 10%. The Aura Score itself is built from appearance consistency (40%), energy and intentionality (35%), and a weekly social-presence reflection (25%), so it rewards showing up well repeatedly rather than one good selfie.

The privacy model is the differentiator. Every analysis runs on the iPhone with Apple's Vision framework; there is no server, no account and no sign-up, so there is nothing to leak. Umax and the looksmax cluster

"Umax" is less one app than a category: several iPhone apps from different developers use the name or a close variant, all with the same loop — take or upload a selfie, receive a face score and sub-scores for symmetry, jawline, hair and skin, then follow a personalised glow-up roadmap. Some add celebrity lookalikes, mewing routines and hairstyle try-ons. Results are gated behind an auto-renewing subscription in every version we looked at.

They are the right choice if a facial-aesthetics score is specifically what you want. Be aware that the near-identical listings make it easy to subscribe to a different app than the one you read about, and that the privacy labels differ between them — read the one for the app you actually install.

LooksMax AI

The same face-rating premise with a slightly more structured onboarding: you create an account, start a trial or pay a weekly fee, then upload a photo for landmark analysis and a glow-up plan. The account and upload are inherent to the design. Pick it over the Umax variants if you want a single, clearly identified developer rather than a cluster of clones; pick neither if you do not want your face on a server.

FirstVibe

A browser tool rather than an app. You upload a selfie and receive a "vibe" score, five impression categories, an aura colour, a celebrity match and an optional roast mode, generated by cloud vision models. The trade-offs are that the photo is uploaded and processed by third-party AI services, and that the free tier is a preview with the full report paid.

Photofeeler

The only entry where humans do the judging. You upload one photo, choose a category (dating, business or social), and other users vote on three traits; scores are standardised 1–10 against photos from people of similar age and gender, with confidence intervals that tighten as votes come in. You can pay for votes or earn them by voting on others' photos.

It is the most credible answer to "how does this photo land", which is exactly why it is not an aura or presence tool: it tests images, not people, and your image is shown to strangers as part of the process.
